Have you ever sat down to excitedly watch a film only to be bored into oblivion? You’re not alone. Recently, someone took to a popular online film forum to ask for the most certifiably boring films of all time. Here are their responses.
1. Paint Drying (2016)

This independent film was initially created as a protest against the British Board of Film Classification’s rules and regulations. The film consists of ten straight hours of uninterrupted view of white paint drying on the wall. Paint Drying was ONLY ten hours long because the independent filmmaker couldn’t afford to make the protest film longer.
2. Battlefield Earth (2000)

You know how sometimes there is a movie that is so bad, it’s good, or even one of those circumstances where years later, everyone comes around and falls in love with the film? Yeah, this is not one of those movies. Instead, battlefield Earth was absolutely horrendous to watch.
3. Eternals (2021)

Watching Marvel’s Eternals was snores galore! Not many can watch this MCU entry from start to finish without passing out in their seat. Several have tried many times and failed.
4. The English Patient (1996)

This epic romantic war drama follows a crash survivor who is burned beyond recognition and is known only as the English patient due to his accent. Through a series of flashbacks, the English patient recalls his past and past love affair to the nurse in charge of his recovery.
5. Sleep (1964)

No one can deny that the works of Andy Warhol are interesting, to say the least. But this next one takes the cake. In 1964 Warhol released an “anti-film” composed of a 30-minute recording of his partner sleeping, on a loop, for five hours.
6. Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966)

The only redeeming quality of this film isn’t even a quality; Mystery Science Theater 3000 reviewed the film, and that’s the only time this feature is tolerable. First, a family gets lost and happens upon a devil-worshiping cult.
7. Lorenzo’s Oil (1992)

Released in 1992, Lorenzo’s Oil is a film about a five-year-old boy who is ailed by a disease so rare that there is no sign of a cure in sight. The feature also tells the story of two parents who will stop at nothing to save their son. Sounds interesting enough, right? Yeah, so did everyone else in 1992.
8. Morbius (2022)

Sony was trying to continue with the momentum gained from Spider-Man and Venom films. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out like anyone would have expected. This movie was just awful.
9. Ad Astra (2019)

I love a great space film as much as the next person, but many agreed Ad Astra was not up to par. An astronaut jettisons into space searching for his long-lost father, who initially ventured into space on a mission to discover intelligent alien life. Still, after many years passing, the mission threatens the livelihood of the solar system.
10. The Tree of Life (2011)

Several cinephiles stated this movie just about bored them to anger. Now who can say they have been so bored they got angered? The film boasts an ensemble cast to include Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Jessica Chastain, and Tye Sheridan. Unfortunately, despite having a fantastic cast, nothing could save this movie from being boring-film-purgatory.
