15 Canceled or Close to Canceled Celebrities People Confess to Still Secretly Supporting, Do You?

If I’m being honest, I don’t even know who all of these celebrities are or what they did to get themselves canceled or close to, which is an indication that I am finally getting old. Nevertheless, a popular online entertainment forum held nothing back when asked who they still secretly support despite their poor behaviors. Here is their list and what they had to say.

1. Azealia Banks

“Azealia Banks. Yeah, she is problematic, but her reads are top-tier and funny. She has said transphobic, racist, and homophobic things, but I think she is truly a masterclass in reading someone to filth. Also controversial, and I’m not a Trump supporter, but Trump is probably one of the funniest presidents ever. The memes and the way he talks are hilarious, and it’s easy to see why he has so many supporters. But he’s objectively a horrible human being.”

2. Michael Richards

“This one could be really controversial, but Michael Richards, Kramer on Seinfeld. It’s been 20 years, and he said it one time. One time! Never before, never after, and there’s no evidence. No one has come forward to testify to a history of racism preceding that infamous outburst. One of the most gifted comic actors out there. The culture is poorer for him, having been shut out for that long.”

3. Sinéad O’Connor

Sinead O'Connor

“Sinead O’Connor. It turns out she was right about the church protecting child abusers. I was young when it happened and didn’t understand the message, especially with the Pope’s face plastered all over my Grandma’s kitchen. This was pre-internet, and she used the biggest stage at the time to spark a fire. The fire didn’t spark until years later and is still smoldering.”

“Yeah, I gotta say I’m with you on this. I thought Sinead was a total idiot for pulling the ‘rip the Pope’s photo’ stunt and stopped being a fan. Nowadays, man, I realize how brave she was.”

4. Janet Jackson

“Janet Jackson!! Justin Timberlake was just as much at fault as she was for that nip slip at the Super Bowl! And he cheated on his wife and is still praised. And her career got destroyed.”

“Ay, this!! I don’t even understand how her career got destroyed over a wardrobe malfunction while actual predators still have careers.”

5. Paul Reubens

“Paul Reubens. That whole thing was pretty stupid. He didn’t hurt anybody. He went to a whacking theater for consenting adults. And whacked it.”

“He redeemed himself relatively well. I’m not sure there’s a single person who didn’t love him in Blow. Plays he got to do his stage act with Peewee kinda recently. He only got screwed originally because he was the star of the biggest network children’s show of the 80s.”

6. Aziz Ansari

“Agree with this. Not only should Aziz not have been canceled over what sounded like a bad date, but she also took away from actual victims of way worse spoke out about way worse celebrities.”

7. The Chicks, Formerly Known as The Dixie Chicks

“The Dixie Chicks. Given what right-wing country artists said around the same time (before and after), they got the shaft. I guess their sins were being right and saying their piece respectfully.”

“Whenever my conservative family members rant about leftist cancel culture, I remind them of the time they went to a rally in the next town over to publicly destroy their Dixie Chicks CDs.”

8. Kevin Spacey

“I don’t know about ‘support,’ but I still watch old Kevin Spacey movies cause they’re some of my favorite movies ever made. I can separate the art from the artist. Also, I don’t pay for any of it, so it’s not like I’m giving him money or anything. If he never acts again and ends up in prison, then good. Still gonna watch Se7en, LA Confidential, and The Usual Suspects, though.”

“My number-one favorite movie of all time is American Beauty. Sometimes you’ve got to separate the art from the artist.” “Kevin Spacey! The dude is a wicked good actor; loved all his movies, and House of Cards is one of my favorite shows. Although he is canceled, I watch his movies/shows from time to time.”

9. J. K. Rowling

“The problem with people who hate J.K. Rowling is that they always lie and twist the truth to make their point. For example, donating to a center for survivors of rape and sexual assault is described as donating to an anti-trans charity. And I can’t find any evidence for a quote of her saying, ‘Trans men are just confused women.’ I’m not saying she isn’t a transphobe (I don’t care enough). I don’t get why nobody ever has evidence for their claims about her.”

This comment stirred up many people’s anger, calling her transphobic. One rebuttal is, “J.K. Rowling is a narcissist. She needs attention and will do anything in her power to be talked about. This is why she waited until the Harry Potter hype died down to announce Dumbledore was gay (which was controversial at the time). Now she’s found a way to get attention by saying offensive things about trans people. It’s all a sick act. She’s gross.”

10. Monica Lewinsky

“Monica has to be one of the most devastating. I’ve enjoyed her Ted talks and interviews — it makes me sad that she lost some of the prime years of her life because she was taken advantage of.”

“Taken advantage of could be better elaborated upon here, considering the nature of some of the stories and the names named here. She had a dalliance with one of the most powerful men in the world, and then she became a victim of the media scandal machine. Not a lot of heroes in that story, so it’s important to remember she’s one for living through it.”

11. Roseanne Barr

“Don’t murder me for mentioning the name Joe Rogan, but I think she was on his podcast twice. Despite her stark-raving madness and lunatic ideas, it was revealed that she had a traumatic brain injury when she was young. Joe seems to think that significantly impacts her mental state today and that she doesn’t deserve the hate she gets.”

“Roseanne. Loved the original show and loved her. Her laugh alone was all it took to crack me up. Just so freaking comfortable being real and raunchy, offensively and inoffensively obnoxious, unashamed of not being a beauty queen, and had a genuine comfortableness with being herself, even when she knew she wasn’t even close to elegance and grace.”

12. Dave Chappelle

“He’s the only celebrity who was ‘canceled,’ where I couldn’t really understand why. People would say he made transphobic comments, but I really couldn’t find them, or at least anything that should have been taken as anything other than a joke or a minor, non-aggressive lack of understanding.”

“My wife is trans and thought it was really well done. Some people don’t understand comedy, I guess?” “The worst part is that the people who are mad at him are the same people who bullied his trans friend into taking her own life.”

13. Mel Gibson

“Mel Gibson. That guy needs a medal for what he’s doing right now (Pushing hard to raise awareness for child trafficking). Not to mention he has some of the most iconic movies of all time.”

14. Johnny Depp

“Johnny Depp. After watching the whole trial and diving deep into the iceberg of who Amber Heard truly is, I am 100% certain that, although the dude had substance abuse problems, he is an angel compared to this woman. I am truly disappointed that folks (especially women) still support her even though she made a mockery out of sexual abuse and made herself a victim where she was the abuser this whole time. I’m not Johnny Depp’s fan, but I still feel that a huge injustice had been done.”

“Johhny Depp lost out on movies in multiple huge franchises for being the victim of domestic abuse.”

15. Winona Ryder

“Winona Ryder… got canceled for shoplifting… that was it. Vanished for years afterward.” “Winona Ryder. Yes, she shoplifted, but she was on a ton of meds at the time and clearly wasn’t in her right mind.” Of course, she stars in Stranger Things now.
