Comedies packed with memorable quotes are my favorite rewatchable films. They are perfect for inducing laughter but are also comfort films for background noise. Here are ten of my absolute favorites.
1. Step Brothers

“I know you touched my drumset, and I wanna hear that dirty little mouth admit it.” Step Brothers is a hilarious comedy that pairs Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as two middle-aged men still living with their parents.
When their parents get married, the two become stepbrothers, leading to a comical clash of egos and a series of juvenile pranks. It is one of my husband’s and mine’s favorites, packed with many hilarious quotes. “Your voice is like a combination of Fergie and Jesus!”
2. Office Space

“Did you get that memo?” Office Space is a cult classic comedy that takes a satirical look at the struggle of office life. It follows Peter Gibbons (Ron Livingston), who despises his mundane job and hatches a plan to liberate himself from the corporate grind.
This comedy is packed with witty one-liners. Its humor resonates with anyone who’s ever felt the frustrations of working in a soulless office environment. “Sounds like somebody’s got a case of the Mondays!”
3. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is a holiday comedy that has become a perennial favorite and makes its way into my Thanksgiving viewing annually. It stars Chevy Chase as the well-intentioned but bumbling Clark Griswold, who strives for the perfect family Christmas.
However, chaos ensues as everything goes awry, resulting in a string of hilarious and quotable moments that perfectly capture the chaos of the holiday season. “Surprised, Eddie? If I woke up with my head sewed to the carpet, I wouldn’t be any more surprised than I am right now!”
4. Friday

“Bye, Felisha!” Friday is a cult classic comedy starring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker as two friends who find themselves in a series of misadventures over the course of a single day.
It’s not just a comedy but a cultural touchstone for its depiction of life in the ‘hood and its humorous take on the ups and downs of urban living. “This is what makes you a man. When I was growin’ up, this was all the protection we needed (fists). You win some, you lose some, but you live. You live to fight another day. And you think you’re a man with that gun in your hand, don’t you?”
5. The Wedding Singer

“Once again, things that could’ve been brought to my attention YESTERDAY!” The Wedding Singer is one of my favorite Adam Sandler films. It’s the perfect romantic comedy with a side of 80s nostalgia.
The film follows a wedding singer who falls for a charming waitress (Drew Barrymore). It provides an abundance of memorable quotes and features outstanding music and a Billy Idol cameo. “Please get out of my Van Halen t-shirt before you jinx the band and they break up.”
6. Mean Girls

“You can’t sit with us!” Mean Girls is a teen comedy that cleverly dissects the intricacies of high school cliques and social dynamics. It follows a teenage girl (Lindsay Lohan) who enters a new high school and navigates the treacherous world of the — Plastics (Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, Amanda Seyfried).”
With its sharp wit and memorable insults, Mean Girls has become a pop culture phenomenon, and its iconic quotes are widely recognized. “Raise your hand if you have ever been personally victimized by Regina George?”
7. Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a romantic comedy with a hilarious twist. Jason Segel plays Peter Bretter, a man who goes on a vacation to Hawaii to forget about his ex-girlfriend (Kristen Bell), only to find out she’s staying at the same resort with her new boyfriend. It co-stars Mila Kunis, Russell Brand, and Jonah Hill. “If you get bitten by a shark, you’re not just gonna give up surfing, are you?”
8. Couples Retreat

“What we need to do now is get focused and stop pointing fingers. You’re a problem. You’re a real, real problem.” Couples Retreat is a comedy that explores the ups and downs of relationships and is one of my husband’s and mine’s favorite rewatchable films.
Couples Retreat follows four couples who embark on a tropical island vacation, only to find themselves in a relationship therapy program. Starring an ensemble cast: Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau, Kristen Bell, Kristen Davis, Faizon Love, and Malin Åkerman.” The circle of life is circling our lives right now!”
9. Game Night

“How can that be profitable for Frito-Lay?” Game Night is a comedy mystery that takes a thrilling turn when a group of friends’ game night goes awry. Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams lead a fantastic cast thrust into a real-life mystery that blurs the lines between reality and play.
The film’s blend of suspense and humor and its sharp, witty dialogues make it highly quotable, lovable, and a rewatchable favorite. It is hilarious! “You didn’t happen to see a fellow brought in here. “I’ve always enjoyed the camaraderie of good friends competing in games of chance and skill.”
10. Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls

“And YOU must be the Monopoly guy!” Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls is the sequel to the zany comedy that introduced Jim Carrey as the eccentric pet detective, Ace Ventura. “Bumble tuna!”
Ace embarks on a journey to Africa to recover a stolen sacred bat. “GUANO!” The film is a laugh riot, filled with Carrey’s trademark physical comedy and a slew of memorable quotes that perfectly capture the character’s unique and quirky personality. It’s an example of the sequel surpassing the original!
