14 Films That Are Readily Identified by One Epic Line. Do You Know Them?

Are there any films that you easily can identify by a single line? Of course, there are! One that has always stuck with me is when Vada says, “Where are his glasses? He can’t see without his glasses!” From the beloved but gut-wrenching film, My Girl. After someone asked an entertainment forum for other examples, here is how they responded.

1. “Toto, I’ve a Feeling We’re Not in Kansas Anymore.”

Who doesn’t remember the popular story of The Wizard of Oz and the famous line, “Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.” Plenty, as many people misquote the film stating, “I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore.” Nonetheless, the former is the original quote when Dorothy is no longer in Kansas but in the magical land of Oz.

2. “I’m the King of the World!”

Titanic is one of my favorite films and is packed with several memorable one-liners. However, one that is undeniably recognizable among the masses is when Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) shouts out, “I’m the king of the world,” before crowing like a rooster.

3. “You Can’t Handle the Truth!”

A Few Good Men

Another classic movie quote comes from the film, A Few Good Men. Lieutenant (junior grade) Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise) is questioning Colonel Nathan R. Jessep (Jack Nicholson) about ordering a “Code Red.” Suddenly, Jessup screams, “You can’t handle the truth,” before eventually confessing to his crimes.

4. “I Ate His Liver With Some Fava Beans and a Nice Chianti.”

Who can forget the infamous Dr. Hannibal Lecter from The Silence of the Lambs? While there are a few lines that readily identify the film, “I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti,” followed by his “Ftt fft ftt,” takes the cake.

5. “No, I Am Your Father.”

Everyone knows the portion of the quote, “I am your father,” but many don’t know they get it wrong. Most folks will recite it as, “LUKE, I am your father.” The full quote comes as a response to Luke’s statement about Vader killing his father. However, Darth Vader actually says, “No, I am your father.”

6. “Run, Forrest! Run!”

Who doesn’t remember where they were and what they were doing when Forrest Gump took off running in a full sprint? Let’s not forget that squeaky little voice with that Alabama accent screaming, “Run, Forrest! Run!”

7. “THIS IS SPARTA!”

The Spartans were a proud warrior people. They trained their bodies to perfection, and they expected nothing less from one another. So when an arrogant out-of-towner comes by demanding earth and water, a great king such as Leonidas rightfully delivers a beautifully placed front kick with Spartan-like aggression.

8. “Who Ya Gonna Call?”

Despite only being mentioned in a song up until the second movie, the phrase, “Who ya gonna call?” is always enthusiastically answered with “GHOST-BUSTERS!” So I think it’s safe to say that slogan will always make you think about these movies.

9. “Heeeeeeere’s Johnny!”

Many cinephiles joked about how Johnny Carson started the whole thing on his late-night talk show. As you know, there is always one in the comment section. One overly serious commenter states how that part of the film was an homage to the show host. Yeah, buddy, we know already!

10. “Why So Serious?!?”

The contrast of the statement while performing seriously heinous acts while saying it aloud is probably why it is such a memorable quote. In the scene with the Joker and the gang leader Gamble was chilling; it’s the way he looks at the camera before it all goes down.

11. “I’m Going to Steal the Declaration of Independence.”

Another movie fan jokes, “This isn’t from a movie; this is something Nicolas Cage says in his everyday life. Little known fact, but Nicolas Cage is not an actor. Every movie he’s in is a documentary.”

12. “Say Hello to My Little Friend.”

Turning a blind eye to his more than questionable lifestyle, many people were rooting for Tony Montana. The Cuban immigrant on the pursuit of happiness. Who could root for that? But then things took a turn for the worst. That quote will be forever ingrained in my memory.

13. “I’ll Be Back.”

Several movieholics pointed out that Arnold Schwarzenegger has used this line in many films. The most prominent and possibly most people’s favorite use of the phrase “I’ll be back” came in The Terminator. It is such a classic line. However, they cleverly pay homage to the quote in Kindergarten Cop, Twins, and True Lies.

14. “Where We’re Going We Don’t Need Roads.”

No line is more iconic or more quoted by millions across the world than “Where We’re Going We Don’t Need Roads.” Everyone loves Doc Brown and his DeLorean almost more than Marty and his wacky story as a whole.
