According to an online community, there are dozens, if not more, of legal things that should be illegalized immediately. Here are their top-voted suggestions. Do you agree?
1. Using Red Dye 40
Red dye 40 is a disgusting chemical that serves the purpose of coloring food. The problem? It contains benzene, a known cancer-causing substance. Additionally, it has been linked to various physical and mental health issues, including ADHD, immune disorders, allergies, and inflammatory bowel diseases.
2. Marrying First Cousins
The States individually make laws on this, but did you know that 19 states allow first cousins to get married? California, Alaska, Colorado, New Mexico, New York, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Washington D.C. have yet to pass laws on this inbreeding, despite knowing it causes congenital disabilities.
3. Drip Pricing
Increasing the price of delivery items and then charging a delivery fee on top of that is obscene. If they excessively charge like that, they should have the decency to pay their workers enough so you don’t feel obligated to tip.
4. Health Insurance Companies Making Medical Decisions
“Insurance companies with no licensed medical professionals deciding which medical procedures patients get to receive,” one says. I recently had a bad experience with this. My doctor wanted me to get a brain MRI because of pain and a neck lump. However, my insurance denied it… twice.
Meanwhile, I’m still in pain and worried because I’ve already had a stroke and lost part of my vision. If my doctor thinks I need this scan, give me the scan. It’s infuriating. However, one mentions, “They actually employ doctors just to get around that. Which somehow makes it worse,” and I agree.
5. Declawing Cats and Debarking Dogs
Countless pet owners defend the position that it is cruel to declaw your cats as it takes their natural defense away and can cause significant pain. They also become more likely to bite and stop using the litter box. Others mention how getting surgery to get rid of a dog’s bark should be illegal. The surgery removes part of a dog’s vocal cords to make a quieter household pet.
6. Ticket Scalping
Many users agree that Ticketmaster is a monopoly and illegal. “But it seems like they have enough reach to bribe the right people.” Someone adds, “Ticketmaster is evil, true, and should have its monopoly busted….but the Stubhubs and Vivid Seats with their bots who buy up all the tickets and get to scalp them….they’re the ones that should be outlawed.”
7. Abuse of the Public Trust
Did you know that abuse of the public trust is a felony in Singapore? One clarifies, “Appoint your brother-in-law to a paid political position, and both of you go to prison.” Multiple Americans admit they agree this should be illegal before reminding the forum, “Like when John F. Kennedy appointed his brother Robert as Attorney General.”
8. Requiring Credit Cards for Free Trials
Yes! Talk about a scam. They know that people will forget to cancel before the “free trial” ends and bank on making money off you until you notice and cancel it. Someone shares a service called privacy.com, where you can create temporary credit cards with a set spending limit that you can set to like three dollars for authorizations. I did not know and am happy to uncover this reality.
9. Civil Asset Forfeiture
“Civil forfeiture allows police to seize — and then keep or sell — any property they allege is involved in a crime. Owners need not ever be arrested or convicted of a crime for their cash, cars, or even real estate to be taken away permanently by the government.” I’m envisioning corrupt officers everywhere.
10. HOA Foreclosure
Did you know that if your Home Owner’s Association writes it in the covenants (like most HOAs), they can put liens on your home based on the fees or fines accrued? It can lead to HOA foreclosure. Countless homeowners in the thread agree that this practice should be illegal.
11. Assault Rifles and Semi-Automatic Weapons
Phew, this is a hot topic, but over 50% of Americans support banning assault rifles and semi-automatic weapons while requiring stricter laws and regulations on regular firearms. Mass shootings and school shootings are a huge reason for this. However, the other percentage of the population would go to war over it. I don’t see this one resolving itself.
12. Corporations and Businesses Buying Houses
Many people agree that corporations and businesses buying houses is destroying the housing market for regular people forced into renting those properties for much more than a mortgage on a home. Some remind others that Airbnbs are a massive part of that problem. One suggests, “If the owner doesn’t plan to live in the home, they should pay through the nose in property taxes, while local homeowners should get their property taxes reduced.”
13. Child Marriages
A forum member states, “A handful of states haven’t really made laws about it, like.. seven or eight states have low age requirements, then the rest of the U.S. is like 15-18 minimum. But then you have Republican Representatives in Missouri (Mike Moon) who are okay with 12-year-olds being married.”
After searching the minimum age requirements in each state, I had no idea many states would allow 16-year-olds to marry with parental consent. If a parent thinks their teenager is old enough to be married, maybe they aren’t the best parents. That is gross.
14. Child Beauty Pageants
Another nasty practice Americans think should be illegalized immediately is child beauty pageants. Many note that the people who enter their little girls into the pageants are the same ones worried about drag queens reading books in schools.
15. Religious Arguments in Politics
Many users remind the forum of “Separation of church and state” and how it’s not being enforced. While some argue that religious people will include religion in their politics because it’s a democracy, others have had enough. One clarifies, “Not everyone belongs to the same religion, so why should someone else’s faith dictate what I’m allowed to do? The issue is that they use religious reasoning to make laws.”
16. Cops Lying During Interrogations
Numerous folks agree with one who suggests, “Cops shouldn’t be able to lie during an interrogation.” They often trick people into not getting a lawyer and even falsifying confessions. Someone explains, “People who have never been in trouble with the law are scared and think cooperating will get them off easy. In reality, the District Attorney and judge don’t care whether they cooperated with police, and their confession makes it harder for their attorneys to strike a favorable plea bargain.
17. Putting Poisons in Our Food
The Food and Drug Administration does not have the American people’s health interests at heart. I know we covered food dyes, but the fact that processed foods are full of several chemicals known to cause cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and other illnesses should be criminal. They spray our produce with chemicals and use things like meat glue and fillers in our meat.
18. High Fructose Corn Syrup
Speaking of food that causes disease and has the American population addicted and fat, high fructose corn syrup is something many feel should not be legal. Someone explains, “It can be difficult and expensive to find products that don’t have high fructose corn syrup.”
15 Absurd Double Standards That Men Have Encountered in Life — Have You?
As a woman, I know there are plenty of evident double standards women endure. However, a recent online discussion in a popular men’s forum highlighted many double standards men have encountered. Here are what they confessed to.
21 Addictions You Ignore Because Acknowledging Them Means You Have a Problem
As someone with a substance abuse disorder, overcoming it was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. People can be heartless and judgmental, and ignorant. They say things like: “If you don’t want to be a drug addict, just quit. It’s that easy. I have no sympathy for them.” Or “I just don’t understand addiction.”

What are you starting to dislike more as you get older? I’ll go first-the music. Music is one of my biggest passions in life. I love singing and used to dance all over the place. However, somehow, I’ve become the person who “can’t understand what they’re saying,” and I’m OK with it.
