Have you ever taught yourself something by following a YouTube tutorial? It’s one of my favorite learning methods. Tens of thousands of free online step-by-step instructions are at your fingertips, and you can learn almost anything.
1. How to Change a Tire
Did you know that the average driver will experience up to five flat tires in their lifetime? Moreover, one in five Americans doesn’t know how to change a tire. You can learn how to change one for free in minutes on YouTube.
2. How to Cook
Thousands of YouTube creators teach you how to cook. From basics like how to cook rice to full-course fine dining, you can go as deep into the culinary world as you choose to venture.
3. How to Start a Garden
Do you want to start growing your fruits and vegetables? Explore hundreds of tutorials that walk you through beginner gardening basics. Learn how to start gardens in the ground, in raised beds, and in pots and planters.
4. How to Sign
Have you ever considered learning American Sign Language (ASL)? Learn How to Sign is a YouTube channel dedicated to this subject. There are also several other creators eager to teach you.
5. How to Sew
Sewing is a valuable life skill that saves money when making minor altercations with clothing, such as hemming pants. Learn how to hand sew or use a machine.
6. How to Bake Bread
Did you know that bread-making involves a lot of science? Natasha’s Kitchen on YouTube has an engaging, easy starter sourdough guide (according to my wife).
7. How to Do Yoga
There are thousands of free Yoga tutorials on YouTube, but Yoga With Adriene is one of my wife and my favorite channels. Did you know it only takes 10-15 minutes daily to stretch your body out and reduce body aches and pains?
8. How to Administer First Aid
Basic first aid is one of the most valuable life skills you can learn for free on YouTube. There are tutorials on wound care, CPR, and administering the Heimlich maneuver (including on yourself).
Don’t depend on the “Stress Relief” episode of The Office for your CRP training. Still, the rhythm of The Bee Gee’s “Staying Alive” is an accurate way to perform it because it has a tempo of 104 beats per minute (BPM), which is the necessary rate for chest compressions given during CPR.
9. How to Tie a Tie
Many men never had a father or role model in their lives who taught them how to tie a tie properly. So, many tutorials are available to help you look sharp at job interviews or life’s fancy dressing functions.
10. How to Budget Money
Another essential life skill many people were never taught in school is budgeting money. Fortunately, many step-by-step guides and various budgeting methods are available for free to learn on YouTube.
