15 Popular Comedians the Internet Deemed Annoying Despite Having Talent

Is there a famous comedian that everyone else seems to love but you don’t find funny? Maybe even annoying? You’re not alone. Someone asked an entertainment forum for comedians they find annoying. Here are THEIR responses, and I DO NOT agree with most of them.

1. Sebastian Maniscalco

One person states, “Sebastian Maniscalco. He sounds like he’s making an over-the-top impression of an Italian character. His voice bothers me.” Awe. I think he is pretty funny. However, another user notes, “I’m pretty sure this guy is one of the biggest comics currently. Ticket sales and ticket price. But I just don’t think he’s funny.”

2. Michelle Wolf

“Michelle Wolf. Her material is great, but her voice is HARD to listen to,” confirms one. A second forum member adds, “I agree so much. I feel like I’m missing out on great material because I absolutely cannot bring myself to muster through it.”

Finally, a third user admits, “I used to do open mics with her and thought she was so quirky but was not a fan of her voice. The joke’s on me. I’m posting on the internet, and she’s breaking ear drums and clearing checks!” I think she is hilarious.

3. Kevin Hart

“I guess Kevin Hart is good because so many people love him,” announces one, “But I just can’t. Being short and loud feels like his only gimmick.” Another person claims he is “The most overrated comic perhaps of the century.” Come on; he is hilarious in the Jumanji movies.

4. Dane Cook

“I think Dane Cook is a pretty good example for many people. His material might not be the best and aimed at college kids more or less, but it’s well crafted and clever, and his delivery is good. And I’m pretty impressed by his ability to perform in front of huge audiences and be very poised and on point. But he reminds me of every lame frat boy I’ve ever encountered and hated.”

5. Bert Kreischer

“Bert Kreischer is funny,” a semi-fan claims, “The Machine showed this years ago. Unfortunately, the rest of him feels like the ‘funniest guy at July 4th BBQ,’ not ‘pay money to hear his jokes’ funny. I also think he is riding the coattails of funny friends.”

A second user states, “Yeah, Burt’s not really a professional comedian, plain and simple. He’s a charismatic, fun guy desperately trying to mold his personality into a career. Even his good jokes you can tell he put in because he HAD to; otherwise, there would be no laughs.” I’m afraid I have to disagree. Bert Kreischer is hilarious in Hey Big Boy on Netflix.

6. John Mulaney

“John Mulaney,” someone suggests. “I can’t listen to his voice. He pronounces parts of words slowly but somehow talks at normal speed. Like when you reach Friday afternoon after a couple of hard, slow days of work, you know it still took the same amount of time to reach the weekend, but each day sucked. He treats vowels like a Wednesday.”

7. Big Jay Oakerson

Another confesses, “Big Jay Oakerson. I watched his special the other day & enjoyed it for the most part, but for some reason, I can’t get over his face and the smug facial expression that he makes half the time. It’s the Slipknot, Mudvayne fan, plus ‘I’m mad at my parents’ energy that gets me. Funny guy and, by all accounts, a real gent. I can’t get past his stupid hair and fingerless gloves, though.”

8. Andrew Schulz

“Andrew Schulz,” volunteers one. “I genuinely think he’s a funny, talented guy and a great comic, yet at the same time, I can’t stand him. What bothers me about him are laughing at his own jokes, sitting on the stool while he performs, and acting like he invented the internet.”

9. Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan, his podcast can be funny at times, but I just don’t understand the humor behind his stand up,” one notes. A second forum member admits, “I saw one of his early standup specials and remember liking it and laughing. Several years later, I noticed a new Joe Rogan Netflix special, so I started watching it. I turned it off after about 10-15 minutes. It was the worst.” He was hilarious on News Radio.

10. Maria Bamford

Someone volunteers, “Also, Maria Bamford. She’s skilled, and her material is pretty good, but if that is her natural voice and personality, it just annoys me. I don’t think it’s all that good or original if it’s actually a contrived created persona. But a lot of respect for her.”

11. Iliza Schlesinger

“Iliza Schlesinger. Funny, but her worst bits, act-outs, and the stupid hashtags ruin the whole thing for me,” confesses one. “A lot of the rage-angsty voices she does, especially the Goblin voice, is like nails on a chalkboard to me.”

Another announces, “Agree. I thought her first few specials were excellent, but I couldn’t even get through one of her later specials when she really leaned into the hashtags and the lecturing.”

12. Lewis Black

“Lewis Black’s rage shaking knocks me out of his comedy,” says one thread contributor. “On a different note, anyone who talks up being too edgy or whatever for most people annoys me, like Mark Marhon and the like. They’re just l like you say- not bad, but annoy me.”

13. Mark Normand

“Mark Normand. Super funny writer but that persona/voice thing he does grates on me. He’s very good, but I hate his voice. It sounds like every sentence is a question or something.”

14. Tim Minchin

“Tim Minchin,” suggests one. “I used to idolize him, and I still think he’s very talented and funny, but at some point, I started to find him a bit cringe and edge lord. I also think his delivery comes across as very scripted on a few small occasions. We obviously know this is an act that is performed many times, I’m under no illusion, but it shouldn’t seem like you’re reading an autocue.”

15. Jim Jeffries

A few people voted for Jim Jeffries. One states, “Can’t stand his voice and way of shouting his material. He’s funny, but I just can’t get into it.” What do you think? Who would you add to this list?
