10 Unspoken Rules of Society That Should Absolutely Terrify You

I love when I scroll into interesting topics with enlightening answers. Recently, a popular online community member asked, “What are the unspoken rules of society that scare you?” Here is what they had to say. Do you agree?

1. You Can’t Hide

Countless people agree with one who states, “You can’t just retreat into a hole somewhere and mind your own business. THEY WILL COME FOR YOU.”

2. Not Knowing Job Interview Rejections

“The job interview ones. It’s not like anyone will tell you what they didn’t like about you, so you’re forever guessing. Meanwhile, your entire livelihood is on the line,” explains one. However, a woman argues that you need to ask. She elaborates that every time she has asked for constructive feedback, she received it and has been able to hone her interviewing skills.

3. Not Requiring Driver’s Retests for Seniors

This scares me, too. A user suggests, “Senior citizens don’t have to be retested for their driver’s license. Think of how many have issues seeing, hearing, or remembering things. Their reflexes are not what they were, and they’re still operating two thousand-pound machines that can easily kill people.”

4. Nobody Explains Human Relationships

Do you find this one accurate? “Nobody will explain to you how human relationships work.” Many people note that there are thousands of books on the topic. Nonetheless, they all have conflicting viewpoints and philosophies on the issue.

5. Friendships End Without Closure

Several people admit they struggle with the unspoken rule that friendships can end without closure. Someone writes, “I felt this one so much, it left a bruise on my heart.” Countless others acknowledge that they learned this reality because friendships dissipated during the pandemic.

6. Rules in Relationships

Another subject that has a plethora of books, many missing the unspoken rule about rules in relationships. One rightly expresses, “There are no rules in relationships until you both have decided on them.” Healthy boundaries are important in facilitating good relationships.

7. Handshaking Etiquette

Many men express stress about handshaking. “Anything related to handshake etiquette or procedures. I hate handshakes,” shares one. A second person chimes in, “I thought Covid killed the handshake. We do bows or fist bumps here. You only clasp hands if you want something closer.”

8. Be Careful What You Wish For

Be careful what you wish for. You might get it. “When I was six, my friend broke her arm and was in a pink cast getting all kinds of attention, so I wished I was, too. I broke my arm four days later. I did get the attention, but it wasn’t worth it. I wrote a couple of essays about this in school later on. Lesson learned.”

9. Popularity Always Wins

Do you agree with one user who suggests that “Popularity ALWAYS wins and dominates? Not what’s right or good and not whose right or good.” Popularity does appear to overtake morality and common sense often.

10. Deprivation of Happiness as Justice

I agree with one who explains the belief that people in jail don’t deserve happiness or self-expression. “I’m not saying they have to have living standards on par with the wealthy, but the jailed have a right to a purpose. I don’t understand the concept of the deprivation of happiness as justice. I view that as the infliction of cruelty.”

After watching The Kalief Browder Story on Netflix, I wouldn’t understand anyone who doesn’t share this same sentiment. “Prison should be rehabilitative and not punitive.”

15 Professions That People Admitted They Would Never Marry Into, Would You?

Are there any jobs that you don’t think you would marry into? While I agree with several on this list, I would add pig farmers. Not because of anything other than the smell. I have a weak stomach, and there is no way I could handle it. After someone asked an internet community which professions they would refuse to marry, these are their confessions.
