Drinking water is essential for adequate hydration and health. Moreover, it’s necessary for staying alive. However, between hundreds of beverage alternatives and people not enjoying the taste, nearly half of Americans don’t drink enough water. Finding ways to make water taste better to ensure you’re drinking enough is important. 

How Do I Make Sure I Am Getting Enough Water?

Ensure you’re drinking enough by investing in a water bottle you love! Do you prefer the taste of water in a hydro flask, plastic, or glass bottle? Many water bottles have hourly marks to inform you of where the water level should be by a specific time of the day. You may also set reminders on your phone until drinking water becomes a habit.

1. Citrus Squeezes

Several single citrus squeezes and combinations will zest up your water immediately. Add lemons, limes, oranges, or grapefruit to your water for a refreshing thirst quench. Or, mix them up! Adding citrus fruits to your water is a natural source of vitamin C. It also may aid digestion.

Infusing your intake with fresh berries is another way to make water taste better. Blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries are beautiful additions to your glass. You can also use frozen berries. However, fresh fruit typically yields the sweetest results.

Cucumbers have a mild taste and are among the most hydrating foods, with a water content of 96%. Cucumber water is an excellent way to keep you hydrated while providing antioxidants and aiding in weight loss. Toss freshly sliced cucumbers into your water glass for a subtle flavor change.

Adding fresh mint leaves and ice is another way to make water taste better. Adding mint to water benefits people with hormonal imbalances, acne, bloating, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and obesity.

Melons are another hydrating fruit that makes sweet, delicious additions to your glass of water. Watermelon is my favorite, and it pairs well with a hint of mint. However, you can also toss honeydew and cantaloupe in.

7. Apples and Cinnamon

Cinnamon and apples pair nicely in many dishes, but did you know they go great together in water? Cinnamon supports healthy digestion and alleviates indigestion and bloating. The combination of apples and cinnamon also helps reduce inflammation and boost metabolism. PharmEasy reports that drinking cinnamon water may also help control blood sugar by slowing sugar uptake and reducing insulin resistance.

8. Flavored Ice Cubes

One of the more fun ways to make water taste better is by making flavored ice cubes. You can add fresh herbs like rosemary and lemongrass, citrus fruits, berries, and exotic fruits, or even make little juice cubes for a tiny splash of fruit juice flavor without all the sugar!

So start with a small amount and add more as your taste adjusts. It’s a wonderful digestion aid for bloating and upset stomachs.
