Have you ever been disappointed with a TV series finale? You’re not alone. After someone asked a popular online entertainment forum what the worst series finales are, here is what they had to say. Do you agree?
1. Ozark (2017-2022)
I will never understand why so many people scoff at the Ozark show or its finale. It had me from pilot to end. Nevertheless, numerous people agree with one who states, “Absolutely abysmal ending.”
2. The 100 (2014-2020)
Many noted how the soft reboot in season six had a good reception and left high hopes for the next season. Season seven was awful and a complete letdown for the avid viewers.
3. House, M.D. (2004-2012)
A cinephile commented, “That’s the case with SO many episodic shows. They start out super strong with a new story to tell each episode in the early seasons and then abandon what made them great for the overarching story no one cares about.”
4. The X-Files (1993-2018)
The series finale of the original run was the better of the two finales, and the creators should have left it at that. An individual replied, “The series finale mentioned in the article is much better than the note that they left the revival series on. They did Scully so, so dirty.”
5. Dexter (2006-2013)
“Dexter was my favorite show, and it was clear that by the final few seasons, they were phoning it in. They had no clue what they were doing and clearly did not care.”
6. Seinfeld (1989-1998)
Sienfield was the biggest show on the air at the time, so what did viewers honestly expect out of the finale? It was not a great episode by any definition. It was simply a clip show for a final episode, and the fans were not happy, especially since the episodes before it were a clip show!
7. How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014)
The series finale received mixed reviews from viewers as well as TV critics. They all believed it was a sucker punch to the importance of the titular “Mother” character. Some felt it was a great way to tie up loose ends, while others expressed their dislike for its lack of character development.
8. Game of Thrones (2011-2019)
“Game of Thrones actively sullied the rest of the show for me. I can’t go back and watch any of it, knowing that the intricate plots being built all come crumbling down like a house of cards in the end.” One critic declared, “I feel like it’s the closest thing to negative points out of ten I can think of.”
9. Gossip Girl (2007-2012)
The series finale was not worth the confusion, and it was extremely disappointing. By the end of the episode, most of the characters were left empty-handed, and the theme leaned more toward pretentious and boring.
10. Killing Eve (2018-2022)
Fans received a mediocre finale because, for some strange reasons, the creators chose not to capitalize on the bold key points that already were put in place throughout the show. In regards to Villanelle and Eve’s future, the viewers were left unsatisfied due to unresolved plot issues.
11. Star Trek Enterprise (2001-2005)
Cast and critics alike felt that the series finale was an injustice to the viewers, the characters, and the show as a whole. The frames from Star Trek: The Next Generation took away the opportunity for closure for the characters of Enterprise.
12. St. Elsewhere (1982-1988)
After all of the things the hotel staff went through to keep this failing hospital afloat while rotating the normal rounds of residency doctors. The Series finale ends with the audience leading to believe that all the events that took place during the show were a figment of the imagination of a young autistic child.
13. Quantum Leap (1989-1994)
“My recollection was that they got canceled or not renewed at the last minute (after filming) and added that end card to give the audience some kind of closure,” an avid fan recalls.
14. Battlestar Galactica (2004-2009)
Several exclaimed, “It was so bad that I haven’t been able to convince myself to rewatch the show even one time. And I LOVED the show, especially the first 3-4 seasons! The writers just had no idea where they were taking things.”
15. Star Trek: Voyager (1995-2001)
“Actually terrible: Star Trek Voyager. Like, they see Earth on the bridge’s screen, and then… it just ends? There was very little build-up to them finally returning home, but even worse: zero payoffs. It’s like the writers just wanted it to be over,” Some individuals pointed out.
